Lyons O’Neill provided civil and structural engineering services for the new secondary school accommodation at Acre Wood Academy in Crowborough, East Sussex, delivered by Willmott Dixon for East Sussex County Council.  The new building sits alongside the existing primary school and provides specialist facilities for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

We designed the structure of the new steel-frame building, creating a robust and adaptable frame that supports the school’s specialist teaching spaces and suits a design and build programme.

Alongside the structure, we were responsible for the site’s civil engineering.  Working with Willmott Dixon and the wider design team, we coordinated our design to keep construction efficient and to deliver a building that will serve the school community for years to come.
